Black Bull Special ReserveBlack Bull Special Reserve is Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky's latest addition to the Black Bull fold, carefully blended to celebrate Black Bull 12 year old winning best scotch blend in the world, 12 years and under at the 2011 World Whisky Awards.

The marriage of exceptional malt and grain whiskies features an unusually high ratio of 50% malt to grain whisky and is bottled at natural cask strength. Non chill filtered, with no artificial colouring, Black Bull Special Reserve is uncompromising, prime and boldly refined,
delivering full pedigree without compromise.

Black Bull Special Reserve No.1 is an extremely limited release batch with just 978 hand-numbered bottles available globally, making it one of the finest and most exclusive blended whiskies ever produced.


Tasting Notes

Colour: Pale Amber
Nose:

Honeycomb, buttered brown bread, cashew nuts, some mossy, grassy notes and quite oily.

Flavour:

Olive bread, then heavier fruity notes, plums, raisins – maybe grapefruit and a brief encounter with soft smoke. With time more syrupy citrus notes emerge along with a little bitter chocolate orange.

Finish:

Growing sweetness in the finish, a touch nutty.

Comment:

A truly outstanding whisky!

 

Black Bull 40yo, Batch 2 (New!)

Black Bull 40Black Bull 40 Year Old, the flagship of the Black Bull range is a superior blend of the finest Single Malt and Single Grain whiskies available from Scotland’s premium Distilleries. The spirit in this second bottling of Black Bull 40 contains whiskies ranging from 40 to 44 years old from the following distilleries: Bunnahabhain, Glenlivet, Tamdhu and Invergordon.

Black Bull 40 year old is 90% single malt and 10% single grain and is bottled at cask strength. The spirit is completely natural, without chill filtration or added colourant.

 

 



Tasting Notes

Colour: Pale Amber
Nose:

Full of fruits, dark cherries, peaches in syrup, figs, oranges, cantaloupe melon, honey off the comb, cooking apples.

Flavour:

Thick mouth feel, balanced fresh woodiness shows maturity yet is still vibrant.  More citrus notes emerge before the sherry notes come through.  Raisins, stewed fruits, pain au chocolat.

Finish:

Long finish for something so delicate, touch of saltiness. Chocolate and then background fruitiness fights to the fore.

Comment:

What a dram, sip and savour and watch the world go by as this whisky changes and changes

Tasting Notes

Colour: Tawny
Nose: Sweet, Grapefruit, vanilla, iced buns, apples and mint
Flavour: Mild, juicy fruits, slight touch of oak and a soft coastal note. Raisins and cinnamon, exceptionally smooth
Finish: Vanilla, some kiwi fruits, freshly cut grass and a faint hint of aniseed
Comment: The best Bull yet! An exceptionally good whisky

 

Black Bull 12yo

Black Bull12This special blend is a marriage of the finest 12 year old single malt and single grain whiskies distilled in Scotland. The selection of whiskies falls true to the Duncan Taylor ethic of unbridled quality, each whisky from each cask is nosed and tasted before going into the Black Bull vatting.

Like its older brother, Black Bull 12yo is 50% malt, 50% grain and bottled at 50% alc/vol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tasting Notes

Colour: Full Amber
Nose: Robust, chunky aromas. Chocolate, toffee, sherry, vanilla and lemon sherbet.
Flavour: Smooth, mellow and rounded. Milk chocolate, treacle toffee, pears, green apples and lots of sweet vanilla.
Finish: Some heavier fruity notes emerge, and lots of creamy notes coming through.
Comment: A very creamy whisky with a lot fruity toffee notes.

Black Bull 30yo

 

BlackBull with GlassThis special blend is a marriage of the finest single malt and single grain whiskies produced in Scotland. The whiskies were vatted together in the 1970s, just after distillation, and matured in sherry casks for a minimum of 30 years, resulting in this deluxe premium rare blend.

Black Bull contains 50% malt whisky and 50% grain whisky and has not been altered by chill-filtration or colourant -- it is completely natural.

 

 

 

 

Tasting Notes

Colour: Chestnut
Nose: Initially chocolate then a hint of turkish delights, stewed rhubarb & lime pickle. With time becomes dark cherries.
Flavour: Rich sherry notes. A big dram but also gentle at the same time. Again, more chocolate notes and some red fruits.
Finish: A cherry finish with a slight cinnamon note and obvious sherry character but there is also a faint creamy note in the background.
Comment: Quite Simply Stunning!
